Nursing
The Nurse provides nursing services, on a visiting or hourly shift basis. The
Nurse will carry out the prescribed treatment, and teach you and your family
any care required between visits.
Physiotherapy
The Physiotherapist provides authorized physiotherapy services, on a visit
basis. The P.T. will teach specialized exercise programs, assist with movement
dysfunction's, work with respiratory, neurology, energy conservation, pain control,
splinting and counselling. They will assess for function, activities of daily
living, transfers, instruction to caregiver, equipment needs, measurement for
wheelchair, walker, other mobility aids.
Occupational
Therapy
The Occupational Therapist provides authorized Occupational Therapy Services
on a visit basis. The O.T. will assess upper body, activities of daily living,
transfers, need for equipment, renovations, safety in use of adaptive equipment
and devices. They will provide counselling and consult with family or surrogate
in client management.
Speech
Therapy
The Speech Pathologist provides authorized speech therapy on a visit basis.
The goal of the Speech Pathologist is to facilitate improvement for speech language
function. They will identify, evaluate, treat and refer individuals with communication
or swallowing disorders.
Social Workers
The Social Worker assesses social functioning of clients and families.
They will provide counselling to clients and families, and enhance psychosocial
adjustment, emotional support and motivation.
Nutrition Counselling
The Nutritionist provides direct therapeutic nutritional counselling.
They will assess the client's nutritional status and implement a nutritional
plan of care.
Personal Support (Homemaking)
The Homemaker provides personal care homemaking and related services to Access
Centre clients and their families. The Homemaking Services are designed to assist
frail, disabled, or medically fragile people and their caregivers to manage
their activities of daily living in order to minimize the need for admission
to an institution.
Respite Care
In home respite offers caregiver relief provided to maintain eligible adults
over 18 years of age in their homes.
